Enjoy beautiful beaches and discover Dutch history

Unawatuna not only sounds tropical, this place fully lives up to its name! Sun, sea and tropical beaches. An ideal location to relax on the beach, enjoy beautiful sunsets and visit the VOC beach in Galle. In short, a wonderful end to my tour through Sri Lanka!

Galle Fort

Fort Galle is definitely worth a visit! Fort Galle was a fortified trading post of the VOC. In 1640, the Dutch conquered the fort from the Portuguese. Later, the fort fell into the hands of the English. The fort still has two old entrance gates. It is very nice to walk a bit along the edge of the fort. You can also visit a Dutch church, a clock tower, a lighthouse and an old hospital here. The streets of the fort mainly consist of tourist shops, restaurants and hotels.

  3. Swing on the Palm Swing at Dalawella Beach (at the Dream Cabanas guesthouse)

  4. Enjoy the peace and quiet at Koggala Beach

  5. Visit Luna Terrace and enjoy a beautiful infinity pool with a great view.

Continue your journey

Continue your journey through Sri Lanka by bus or train to Colombo. Count on a travel time of approximately 3 hours. It is of course also possible to start the journey in Unawatuna! However, most travelers choose to end the trip in the south. The big advantage is that you end your trip with relaxing on the beach.
